Thinking on Scripture is a Free Grace ministry that relies on the personal gifts of others. Financial giving to support Bible teaching is biblical. The Gospel of Luke tells us that Jesus and His twelve disciples were personally funded by several women who traveled with them (Luke 8:1–3). These included “Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means” (Luke 8:2b–3). Jesus and His disciples could afford to meet their daily needs because of the gracious generosity of these women. Their financial gifts had both immediate and eternal impact—and the ripple effects are still felt today. That’s an impressive return on investment!
Grace-giving means giving with an open hand, from the bounty of our own resources, to help advance God’s work in the lives of others. This grace-oriented mindset is taught throughout Scripture. The apostle Paul was supported financially by Christians who gave freely to him (2 Cor 9:1–15; Phil 4:16–18). Their gifts helped spread the gospel and sound doctrine. Paul explained their giving needed to be with the right attitude, saying, “Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7). Paul also explained that those who give will themselves be blessed by the Lord, saying, “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness” (2 Cor 9:10).
Though there is no charge for the material on this website, I do have ongoing ministry expenses each year. Personal gifts to me help cover the cost of research materials, electronics, software, and annual website fees. Occasionally, resources may also be used for travel to Bible conferences and teaching events. If you are blessed by this ministry and want to help, I’m grateful for any gift you choose to give.
Please note: Thinking on Scripture is NOT a 501(c)(3) organization, and your gifts are NOT tax-deductible. These are personal, freewill gifts given directly to me to help support this work (and, occasionally, coffee). You can give via PayPal or Stripe. Thank you.
